David Erisman was born on 12 Apr 1813 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA. He married Catherine Oster, daughter of William Oster and Margaret Schmitt, on 8 Oct 1833 in Lancaster Moravian Church, Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA. He died on 19 Nov 1886 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA, at age 73. He was buried on 21 Nov 1886 in Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA.
David was first taxed in Lancaster City in 1836 where his occupation was given as a Carpenter. He was enumerated in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Census in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA. David died intestate and at that time he was in possession of two houses and lots on Chestnut St., Lancaster, PA, being number 223 and 223 1/2. They were evaluated and split into two parcels for sale.

DEATH OF AN OLD LADY
Mrs. Catherine Erisman Passes Away After a Long Illness

Mrs. Catherine Erisman, an aged and respected lady of the city died this morning at 3 o’clock at her residence, No. 223 West Chestnut Street. She had been sick since last April with asthma and dropsy. Mrs. Erisman was born December 12, 1812, in this city, and lived here all her life. She was the wife of David Erisman, who was a well known carpenter during his lifetime and died 23 years ago. The couple had ten children, six of whom are living, as follows: Mrs. Mary Kautz, wife of Elias Kautz; Mrs. Lucy Killinger, wife of the late Jacob Killinger; Mrs. Kate Powell, wife of George Powell; Mrs. Clara Smeltz, wife of Benjamin Smeltz; Margaret, who is single and resided at home with her motherr, and David F. Erisman, the only surviving son, who resides at Sterling, Illinois. The deceased has thirty grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was a consistent member of Bethel Church of God, and for a long time was fully prepared for the end. The body of the decease has been taken to the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Killinger, who resides at 216 West Chestnut Street, from which place the funeral will take place at a time not yet set.

Death of Mrs. Catherine Erisman, on the 77th Year of Her Age

Mrs. Catherine Erisman, an estimable resident of Lancaster, died at her home 223-½ West Chestnut street, this morning about 3 o’clock. Mrs, Erisman has been in feeble health for a number years, and since April last she has been confined to bed. The cause of her death was dropsy and an affection of the heart. She bore her sufferings calmly and with fortitude, and her death was peaceful.

Deceased was born in Lancaster city and was in the 77th year of her age. Her husband, David Erisman, a well-known carpenter, died twenty=three years ago. Mrs. Erisman was a devout member of the Bethel Church of God. Six children survive, as follows: Mrs, Mary Kautz, wife of Elias Kautz; Mrs. Lucy Killinger, Mrs. Kate Powell, wife of George Powell, Mrs. Clara Smetz, wife of Isaac Benton Smeltz; Miss MargaretvErisman, and David F., who is now a resident of Sterling, Illinois.. Deceased had thirty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildrn.
